According to Bloomberg, the Chinese authorities have designated February 1, 2018 as the date on which the VPN service will eventually be blocked in the country. Major Internet providers in China like China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom are to prevent their Internet connection via VPN.

How these regulations and guidelines will work in practice will only appear next year. So far the Great Chinese Firewall can be successfully bypassed by VPN.
