The Russian Parliament has banned the use of VPNs and proxies

The Russian parliament has banned the use of VPN, proxy and Tor.

Duma's right to deny internet providers the obligation to block online services offering services to maintain anonymity in the network and to inform them about circumvention practices.

The rationale is that the law will strengthen the censorship of extremist content in Russia, which has been in force for some time.

The law will come into force on November 1 if it is approved by the Federation Council and signed by President Putin.
